Making a Difference

So before I left for Mammoth with my family, we got word that 1 of our
World Vision kids we sponsor in Brazil, David, who shared my birthday of July 23,
perished after being rushed to the hospital for treatment. We sponsored
David for nearly 4 years. Our hearts are heavy but know that he's with
Jesus now. How can I say that? Because in the letters and pictures we
received from him, he shared God and his love for Him. We made a
profound difference in his life.

But, he made a profound impact on us. So much so, that when we hiked up
to Heart Lake and saw the view of the valley along with Lake Mary,
Lake George,Twin Lakes, the Minarets and Mammoth Mountain looming
so galiantly, we decided to remember David there.
The Bride, BWD 4 and I prayed a prayer for his family.
One of Claire's hobbies is to find heart rocks: rocks in
the shape of a heart everywhere we hike. It's a reminder of God's love
for her. Kylie actually found a heart rock near the place we had the
memorial for David so we placed it at the foot of this magnificent Western
Pine overlooking the valley. I etched David's name into the tree (I know-
I know it's not good for the tree) but if it's survived 1,000 years of wind
and snow and sun and fire it will survive my carving.

Please consider sponsoring a child or sponsoring another child through World
Vision. You won't find a better way of investing $1.13 a day anywhere else.
Begin your amazing journey making a difference globally
in Jesus' name.....
