When my son, VIG (very important guppy) Matt was born 13 years ago, the Bride
decided to start celebrating the Advent Season: The four weeks leading up to
Christmas-the anticipation of God's gift to us: Jesus. You simply light a candle on the first Sunday of Advent (4 weeks from December 25th),and every consecutive Sunday to follow. Then light one candle on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. We read a quick prayer after each lighting as well.
Each week represents a particular promise fulfilled. Week 1 Hope. Week 2 Peace. Week 3 Joy and Week 4 is Love. The final candle on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day is for Jesus: The SOURCE of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
I encourage you to start this tradition in your family. Now, every year The BWD 4 DEMAND us to
"get the advent candles and story OUT" and it's very cool. It's a neat tradition and memories made, me thinks.
Merry Christmas to you and your family
