Every successful company has a "mission statement."
Websters defines a mission statement as: "A summary of the aims and values of a company, organization, or individual."
A summary of the aims and values.....of a(n) individual.
Interesting.
Each of us have an aim or value in life, yes? Or maybe aim(S) or value(S) in life?
What are we getting up for everyday? Why do we do what we do? What are
we living for or what are we trying to earn? What motivates us? What is our
"life mission statement."
Years ago, a mentor of mine, my youth pastor David Shaw
encouraged our Youth Group to invest some time into crafting one. I took it
pretty seriously and drafted one. I wish I could say that I followed every one of them
over the years, but alas, not to be! And, every so often I take them out of an old
Bible of mine, take a peek and update them a bit.
If you haven't ever thought about crafting one, perhaps mine may inspire you.
I hope they do. I think it's a tangible way to keep us, "on the road less traveled."
Not to mention, giving us a quick kick in the kiester every now and then. LOL
Big Wave Dave "Life Mission Statement." Things I try to live by:
1) Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
2) Treasure our body as God has given to us. Take care of it.
3) Be honest and always tell the truth
4) Success requires hard work, persistence, patience and LOTS of prayer.
5) Make a difference in at least one persons' life every day.
6) Follow the 10 commandments.
7) Admit wrongs, apologize AND vow to not be a "repeat offender".
8) Jesus asks us not to live in fear. "God, give me the ability to do just that."
9) Love well. My kids. My bride, Claire. Be authentic and real. Genuine.
10) Count my blessings, be thankful for what God has given and share my life with others.
{I would love to hear/read your thoughts about your life mission statement.
